week 9- sound

Today we looked at different horror movies and we listened to what type of sounding they would have. this had helped us on our work, so know we know what type of sounding we need for our opening sequence. However me another person in my group had ask others on what type of music we could put in our work and they gave us feedback. We had showed them some sounding and they had told us if it sounds good or not.

Filming - week 8

Today we had our first filming session, so we had filmed our first draft, we also called it our rough cut and posted it on YouTube. it was good as we filmed quite a lot within 2 hours. we do not have that much left, just about 2 more scenes. However we need to make sure that the background is the same, so it is not more or less foggy on the next shooting day.

age rating - week 6

I have researched on age ratings and i have decided with my group that our opening sequence is going to be at a age of 15. we have a choice between 12A, 12 and 15. We didn't pick 12A or 12 because then we cannot use any violence whereas our filming has some violent scenes where someone is getting stabbed with a knife and there is blood everywhere. I had thought that 15 is a good age rate as the teens are more mature then and are able to handle films with knifes and blood.

Iconography - week 7

In this lesson we had learnt what the word iconography meant and what iconography our film opening will need. Iconography are visual elements which have gained symbolic meaning overtime. the Iconography that we have under our genre and the ones we'll use un our opening sequence are:
  • knife
  • blood
  • shadows
  • dark clothing
  • dark lighting
  • squeaky swings
  • chases

preliminary task analysis

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3PvWybV_ZM
one thing that went well on this preliminary task was the match on action, there was a long shot of the person walking towards the door, then there was a close up of his hand when he was turning the handle. it was then conitued int the next room when the person walked in.
They need to improve the camera shots such as over the shoulder shot. When actor 1 sits down and the camera is on him you can see actor 2's head coming in front of the camera. also they need to have eye contact with each other. another thing is the shot reverse shot needs to be improved. when they change the person a lot of their face gets cut off. When they are filming, it would be a good idea if they film the face and not the back of their head.
